This book bills itself as a “proper romance, and it is that. This book is donaldsoj treasure that will remain forever on my shelves and be shared through generations. Also, most of the joy that made Edenbrooke a fun read is missing from Blackmoore; what you’re left with is a lot of angst that takes way too long to resolve.
Then I took 10 minutes to reread all of my favorite parts! I still melt a little bit inside when I think about it.

I re-read Blackmoore in preparation for my post, and those who know me well will know that I have only read a handful of books twice through.
I loved her debut novel and was in doubt that I would be able to love this as much as I did her first but I was wrong, so wrong.
It is a fucking travesty. Free from marriage to a wretched old man, free from her tedious life and free to go to India with her aunt Charlotte. Blackmoore is a beautifully juliannee story. A true Regency romance, Blackmoore is an addictive read that will have you laughing, crying and romantically sighing She is in a cage. The book paints her mother out to be a slag, a bitch, a whore, but for once, I sympathize with her mother and her despair towards Katherine.
This would be a really good way to ease into something historical. I’m just really picky and get irritated easily by certain plot devices – and they get old if I read too many.
Her feelings of birds are even in the first lines of chapter one: She finally gets her chance, but she makes a deal with the devil. Add this one to your to-read list!
Be prepared for details about Greek Mythology and birds. At every possibility I faced another donalvson.
I have a soft spot for ghost stories and historicals, and the combo is next to impossible to find. Kate WorthingtonHenry Delafield. Even though it may not be what her heart wants. Okay, I think I overplayed the ghost reference, as I told Wendy above.
