If you’re going to read one anthropomorphic-wolf novel this year, it should probably be A Companion to Wolves by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear, but if you have it in you to read another one, this wouldn’t be a uearst waste of time. Kaala has a destiny, one that she’s not quite sure about, and she finds herself drawn to the humans that the pack have sworn to keep away from. In what literary tradition would you place Promise of the Wolves? Once when she is visiting them, she spots a girl drowning, and rescues her. The pack dynamics of the wolves were especially interesting to read.

As a bit of a step outside of my genre comfort zone, I chose this book for our teacher book club because there are a few of us who enjoy books about alternate world, times, and just off-the-beaten-path kind of novels.
