Go to any review of these Wallander books and you’re likely to run into the following: Wallander and the Ystad police will have henniny hands full in order to find out who is committing these crimes and also why the young woman killed herself. I think I finished it in hennimg than twenty-four hours.
I love the Audible versions – Dick Hill’s narration is top notch – because hearing the story seems to transport me into Mankell’s and Wallander’s world. So much more to read. Henning Mankell was on that list until today.

Distracted is a story about how a crime is sidettacked, with numerous convergences and yes, distractions. Several homicides take place where the victim is not only killed but scalped.
Mankell spends a lot of time exploring Wallander’s thinking as he tries to solve the murders and the sub-plot involving his relationships with his woman friend, his daughter and his father are well documented from his point of view. This is a book that stays with the reader and is so thought provoking for a long time.
